Steven McCrone is the Business Development Manager of Mission Critical Programs at Thermo Systems, a leader in control systems integration, specializing in BMS/EPMS solutions within the mission critical space. In his current role, Steven provides world-class automation solutions for Thermo Systems’ mission critical clients globally.
Immediately after graduating from Penn State University, Steven joined Thermo Systems and embarked on a career journey into the mission critical industry. From the beginning, he committed to Thermo Systems’ efforts in providing data center clients with new and innovative ways to manage and operate their plants and major equipment. Steven finds it especially rewarding to support a project’s entire life cycle, from conceptual design and preconstruction through construction and commissioning and on to continued operational support and service. This continuous involvement offers the opportunity to provide the best possible controls solutions to Thermo Systems’ customers.
He is determined to assist clients by providing efficient and optimal performance solutions that support each customer’s business needs, whether that be increased capacity, reduced down-time, increased resiliency, or a focus on sustainability. From the start of his career, Steven focused on forming relationships with end users, general contractors, trade partners, and vendors with an emphasis on setting projects up for success. Steven firmly believes that early and consistent coordination and collaboration between all stakeholders pays dividends during the project’s construction and implementation phase. Especially in today’s world, with added challenges stemming from material and commodity shortages, extended lead times, and tight labor markets, those relationships have never been more important.
In his current role as Business Development Manager, Steven oversees strategy development/execution and preconstruction for some of Thermo Systems’ largest hyperscale mission critical customers. Serving multiple end users and campuses across the US and Europe, he is committed to driving the success of each project and coordinating with the customer, general contractors, and Thermo Systems’ subcontractors to ensure expectations are aligned and promote transparent communication.
Having a passion for technology and increasing efficiency, Steven has been the driving force behind creating and updating technologies and processes within the Thermo Systems organization. Throughout his career, he has held responsibility for developing technical proposals, managing key client relationships, and concurrently overseeing large-scale multimillion-dollar projects—Steven’s ability to deliver excellence results from his passion for increasing efficiency for Thermo and its clients.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers
Steven’s career journey began as an intern for Thermo Systems while he was a junior in college. That experience makes him a perfect mentor for new engineers at Thermo Systems. Since then, Steven has excelled professionally while embracing every opportunity to learn and expand his skill set and expertise. He inspires the new generation of interns and engineers with enthusiasm and commitment to a more sustainable future.
Involvement with 7×24 Exchange
Though Steven is a relatively new member of 7×24 Exchange, he has attended multiple conferences and sees great value in the organization. He recognizes the need for global collaboration and believes 7×24 Exchange provides the perfect platform to exchange ideas and learn from other industry leaders seeking to address the challenges of data center design, delivery, operation, and sustainability.
Steven’s first experience with 7×24 Exchange was attending the Spring Conference in 2019 as a sponsor for the event, where he could easily envision the value 7×24 brings to the mission critical industry and the need to provide a space where leaders and experts can exchange knowledge.
