Chris McLean, PE, ATD, is the director of mission critical solutions at M.C. Dean. He specializes in the complete life cycle of mission critical facilities. As an electrical engineer and project management professional with 15+ years of experience, Chris serves as a key advisor to customers on mission critical projects and data center colocation facilities with a focus on innovation, reliability, energy management, and cost-savings for large-scale investments.
Chris uses his expertise to support M.C. Dean in its mission to provide modular design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance for the nation’s most recognizable mission-critical facilities, large-scale infrastructure, and global enterprises. He is a leader in the organization’s ability to connect the stages in the mission critical lifecycles – he is the hyphen in “design-build.”
“I have seen first-hand how the IT environment is designed, built, and operated, and understand that it is constantly evolving. In my role at M.C. Dean, I have worked with professionals in many different roles and disciplines, from IT staff, designers, fabricators to senior executives. I believe applying a collaborative approach throughout the project lifecycle and evolving design results in highly constructable modular building blocks.”
Before M.C. Dean, Chris was director of mission critical projects for a national engineering firm and director of data center design and construction at a carrier hotel and co-location facility. Throughout his career, he has held responsibility for developing technical proposals, managing key client relationships, and concurrently overseeing large scale multimillion-dollar projects.
My Start in Mission Critical
“I started my mission critical career in 1999 as an undergraduate, working full-time in various IT roles ranging from desktop support and server configuration to rack and stack. I earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and began a traditional consulting engineering career. I have always sought design roles that allow me to leverage my knowledge of IT building blocks to design better facilities.”
Chris has a proven track record to build and lead highly motivated global teams that exceed aggressive quantitative business objectives, and is highly praised for his creativity, problem-solving skills, and successful delivery of work. As an avid advocate for the mission critical industry, he has presented nationally at some of the industry’s largest technical conferences, and is a regular contributor to data center publications.
